It’s important to me to live as non-toxic as possible, especially regarding things that are in my control, and that I use on a daily basis. Here is the second round up of my Favorite Natural Products. See round 1 here!
Raw Organic Shea Butter
Around 5 months old, Ali started to get eczema on her right arm, one spot on her lower back, and also on her calves. She had some on her stomach, but luckily it’s gone away. Her eczema may be an allergy, hereditary, or a side effect of her vaccinations, but when I rub this on her skin, it works wonders for itching and calming inflammation.
There were taken two weeks apart, after using the raw shea butter daily.
I’ve pretty much become obsessed with getting her eczema under control. Luckily she has a milder case than most, but it still becomes frustrating when she’s itchy and uncomfortable. I hardly ever eat dairy, limited gluten and no soy, so I know that it’s not from my diet through breastfeeding. I have noticed that it mostly it comes out when she’s teething or has a cold because of immune system stress, so I also give Ali a probiotic to help with gut health, and I take one as well.
I believe her eczema may stem from pet dander from our dog…but Madilyn stays 🙂 Sorry Ali
Shea Moisture Soap
Not only does this smell great, it’s super moisturizing and gentle. I also use it for myself, and my skin feels amazing.
Detox Bath Supplies: Bentonite Clay, Epsom Salt, and Sea Salt
I LOVE a good Epsom salt bath to pull out toxins, heal sore muscles, and boost health. Also, it’s great for skin issues! I use these recipes found here, and I also drop 1-2 tbsp in Ali’s baths on occasion, making sure she nurses afterwards to rehydrate.
“This nutrient-rich kaolin clay mask purifies and balances, absorbing excess oil and drawing out impurities. Activated charcoal minimizes the appearance of pores, giving skin a smooth, refined appearance while salicylic acid stimulates exfoliation. Perfect for all skin types and those concerned with congestion and oily skin.”
Organic Frozen Cauliflower
I have been adding chopped, frozen cauliflower to my smoothies for an extra dose of veggies and fiber. It’s tasteless, and creates a thicker, creamy consistency!
- 1 scoop vanilla vegan protein
- 1/2 cup frozen cauliflower
- 1 cup mixed berries
- 1 big handful of baby spinach
- dash of cinnamon
- water to blend
Organic Bone Broth
Health starts in the gut, and Bone Broth is incredible for healing gut lining and reducing inflammation. It’s also great for hair, skin, and nail health due to it’s collagen compounds and essential amino acids.
I love to use it in my brown rice, quinoa, or drink it straight from a mug.
Seventh Generation Detergent
I’ve found this to be the most gentle on skin, while still getting clothes clean. It’s hypoallergenic, free of fragrances, dyes, and artificial brighteners. I love all if their cleaning products as well.
There you have it!
